The two laws chosen, RA 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997)  and RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2013) , were selected because they directly address two significant forms of violence against women: rape and human trafficking.

Here's a breakdown of why these laws were chosen:

• RA 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997): This law is a cornerstone in addressing sexual violence against women. It expands the definition of rape to encompass a wider range of acts, including those involving force, threat, intimidation, or when the victim is unconscious or incapable of consent .  It also establishes stricter penalties for rape and related crimes, aiming to deter perpetrators and ensure justice for victims.  The law's focus on protecting victims and providing support services is crucial in addressing the trauma and long-term consequences of sexual violence.

• RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2013): This law recognizes the significant link between human trafficking and violence against women.  It strengthens penalties for trafficking offenses and expands the definition of trafficking to include acts like forced labor, sexual exploitation, and debt bondage .  The law's emphasis on victim protection, rehabilitation, and international cooperation is vital in addressing the transnational nature of this crime and its devastating impact on women and girls.

In essence, these two laws were chosen because they directly address two prevalent forms of violence against women, providing legal frameworks to punish perpetrators and protect victims. They also highlight the importance of victim support and international cooperation in combating these crimes.
